Photo Of The Week

Cleaning My Bike

Basically , this is what I do on my off day when I don't have school or work. I cleaned , checked and maintained my bike every single month. Like humans , motor vehicles also need regular checks and cleaning. If we don't maintain and clean our bikes , it will be very dangerous for the rider and other road users if something happened. We should check whether our chain is too loose or too tight and if it is properly lubed. We should clean our bike so that the paint won't wear off and get yellowed over time. Remove all the brake dust from our rims to prevent it from sticking on to the rims permanently.

All these small things might not be important for other people , but to me , it is very important. I've seen people on the road with very loose chains almost coming out of the bike , flat tyres and very bad exhaust/engine sound. This is very bad

Photo of the week

Photo of the week

This week photo would be at SSDC ( Singapore Safety Driving Centre ).
I went there to accompany my girlfriend for her motorbike practical today and watched as her as she ride in the lobby. This place brought a lot of memory for me as this was where I learnt how to drive and also the place where I gotten the license to drive on Singapore and International road. I fell , bled , sweat and tear on this very level where I started learning to drive my bike. I couldn't even ride properly at that time. I fell multiples times at the "S" course I was too "kanchiong" into the turn and lost control of my bike. HAhaha.

I can't wait for like 5 more months where I could finally remove my "P" plate and apply for class 2A. I'll be back her soon. Wooo~

Singapore Night Festival 2016

 Singapore Night Festival 2016

Singapore Night Festival 2016 was blast ! Those were the words I would want to say if I had any clue on where the fuck I was going ! So , I read the map , Zone 1,2,3,4,5 and there was a few trail which i could follow. Couldn't be so hard , could it ? Oh boy was I wrong. I walked , following one of trail which led me to multiples and it's not just multiples , It's fucking 100s or maybe almost a thousand of people !!!! FUCK ! It was damn stuffy , body odours  , smell of alcohol and cigarette were everywhere around me ! People were stepping on each other's shoes, pushing one another to get to the other area. I wasn't sure where exactly I was at that time but it was a horrible experience. I went home at around 8 just after the whole thing started. It was on Friday , the beginning of the Night Festival.

I did not want to go there again but if I don't , I would probably fail my Creative Thinking module right ? I went back there again on Saturday the following week. I saw my friends snapchat on Friday where they saw godzilla or something like that outside the art museum . I thought to myself , " Hey , It could actually be interesting!" Oh , Boy ! was I wrong again. So I went to the Singapore Art Museum and i saw this.
(photo was taken opposite the art musuem outside SMU)

"Hmmm. Cool light shows but WHERE IS THE GODDAM GODZILLA ?!!" I stood there for a few minutes and I walked opposite where I took the picture. So i went to SMU next ,where there were tons and tons of people. There were booths were people buying and selling overpriced stuff.

There were too many people and most of them smell like alcohol so i decided not to enter my shopping mode and strayed around the stalls and while straying around the stores , i found beer stalls. tons of beer stalls , the source of the alcohol ! The distributor of alcohol around SMU ! I am sorry but I can't stand the smell of alcohols. One time I had a friend , he was drinking and he talked directly in front of my face while holding my shoulder with his stinky alcoholic breath and I bitched slapped his face because the smell was horrible ! I think i have a very good and sensitive sense of smell thus I reacted that way. He was fine though and couldn't even remember that he was bitched slapped the next day .

Back to the Night Festival, nearby the stalls where the drunks gathered, there was a performance by I don't really bother to check their names but it was alright. The place was pretty chill where there were cushions where people could relax and enjoy the performance. I couldn't though because the whole bloody area stinks of alcohol and body odours .
(I have no idea what these malays are performing)

I looked at the map again after getting bored of the Night Festival already. There was still no Godzilla near the Singapore Art museum. To my disappointment , I walked back to where i parked my bike illegally hoping not to get fined because there were shitloads of traffic police everywhere with a friend of mine and we set of to Armenian street where I could see there was supposed to be a lot of things going on there and there were a lot of things going on there. I couldn't comprehend what in the world was going on there though ,even after I've reached the area.

The picture above was the first thing I saw after reaching Armenian street. MORE smelly body odours and alcohol. There was something going on the building there but I did not want to go into the area of smelly B.Os. If there was a zombie apocalypse , this would be one of the streets filled with zombies that you see in games and movies.

I walked around the place and there was more alcohol stalls and another performance.

There were drunkards dancing and doing capoeira or some sort infront of their performance. No idea what was in their minds but i'm not gonna judge any more. Took a few photos here and there and back on my bike I go where I went to enjoyed prata with great company at Ang Mo Kio , Haji Karim Prata Shop, the best experience i received that night. The prata was amazing !

Totally not gonna go to another night festival in the near future. P.S , Right after I went home , I looked at my snap before heading to bed , there was still no Godzilla but there was people flying/floating on something. Came for the Godzilla and all I received was the alcohol stench back home.

5 LATERAL THINKING PUZZLES

5 Lateral Thinking Puzzles

Q1 ) Take away one of the letters in this grid and yet still leave all 26 letters of the alphabet. Which letter can be taken away?
Solution : Q . I'll buy a Q (as if it costs money), for the same reason as before ( meaning, the overall structure describes the letter in question).

My Thoughts : I chose the letter H because it was outside the box of 5 by 6. Saw the solution and instantly i thought to myself , " this is so fucking dumb. I gotta find 4 more questions with retarded solutions ?" #LifeOfANafaStudent .. I am more of a literal type of person , not lateral but it's being graded so i have no choice but to participate in updating my blogs.

Q2 ) What six-letter word is missing from this sequence?

DIRECT
ROLE
OCCIDENTAL
DARE
??????
SHADOW
AMUSED

Solution : ANSWER.The middle two letters of each word become the first and last letter of the next one.

My thoughts : Another dumb fucking question with another dumb solution. It could be fucking anything but it has to be ANSWER ? I need to fill up a minimum of 50 words for every puzzles so i'm just gonna bullshit my way through. Hope i don't get sacked for using profanities. That's more than 50 words right ?

Q3 )Which home below is incomplete?

Solution : ABODE. (All of the above). The O in ABCDE is incomplete

My thoughts : ABODE ? SERIOUSLY ? ABODE ?! BECAUSE THE "C" IS ACTUALLY AN IN-COMPLETED "O" ?! OH MY GOD ! I'm getting so pissed off at every single question and solution that came to me. Still can't believe it's abode. Come on! Nobody could think of that! So dumb.

Q4 ) After hours of searching the castle you eventually find the mysterious Room 88 at the end of a long gloomy corridor. Appropriately enough, it has 'R88' on it. You try to open the door, but it is locked. Suddenly a ghostly voice from inside murmurs: 'Say the magic word and the door will open.' What word should you say?

Solution : VOODOO.The figure given for R88 contains the letters in VOODOO.

My thoughts : I can see that it's voodoo AFTER i found the solution. I couldn't solve this question but I am NOT stupid ! THE WHOLE QUESTION IS STUPID! "Say the magic word and the door will open" What the fuck is this ? Fucking fairy tale shit? And who the fuck would search a castle ? Let alone listen to a fucking ghostly voice! The words i would bloody say is "FUCKKK !!" and I would scram my fat ass out of the freaking castle.

Q5 ) A, B, C and D are four sleeping ladybugs on a perfectly flat tabletop. What is the direct distance between ladybugs A and C?

Solution : 1cm. AB + AD and BC + CD are both equal to BD , so the four ladybugs must actually lie in a straight line as follows :

My thoughts : I wanna fucking cry. This is so stupid. I used to be pretty good in mathematics during my secondary school times. NEVER had i encountered these stupid question. I could put Ladybug C all the to the end and it would change the entire answer right ? It could be anything i want it to be? Why isn't maths like this back in secondary school? Questions could be to find the angle of ABC and I could write anything because i could move the fucking lines? So stupid.

Conclusion

It was pretty interesting to try out though , but I find everything totally stupid. I got 2/10 for this lateral thinking test and i could say , that i am proud of it. Would try it with different questions but i would guarantee get pissed off at myself and the whole world.

EDWARD de BONO

Edward Charles Francis Publius de Bono is the person who created and originated the term lateral thinking and also created the "SIX THINKING HATS". He gained a medical degree , a PhD in medicine and an honorary in Doctor of Design from 3 different schools. He has taught his thinking methods to government agencies , corporate clients , organizations and also individuals

From the 3 minutes video with Edward de Bono , he mentioned that creativity is actually a skill. A skill that everyone can learn though some might be better than others which is the reality of the world. There are different tools that could be thought and we could use these tools and apply it deliberately. Lateral thinking is a usable and learnable skills that each and any one of us individual are able to learn and use.

Fun Fact about Edward de Bono :  He wants thinking to be taught as a formal subject in school/
He is named the TOP 50 business intellectuals in the whole world and top 20 visionaries who has the strongest influence.

  Photo of the week

As I was cleaning my wardrobe today , I stumbled upon an old t-shirt of mine ; the Certified Fit award that was given to me as an achievement for getting a Gold in my NAPHA during my second year of ITE . As soon as I held the t-shirt, i tried finding my old taekwondo uniform that i've worn for my CCA back in ITE. I used to be very unfit. Very skinny and lacking muscles.

During my first year of ITE, i was the nerdy skinny boy till i started joining taekwondo. The ITE taekwondo club was totally different from the outside CommunityClub taekwondo that my friends told me about. It was intense. We trained for hours building our stamina , doing cardio , and strengthening our body. I made bunch of friends from my club where we train together, went for grading together and rose up through our ranks from white belt to wherever they are right now. Some were blue , some were brown, but i was stuck at green as i was injured at one point of the training ,fracturing my hand while we were sparring. Hehe. Due to that incident, i could not take part in their grading and i stopped taekwondo for a few months, feeling very left behind as my friends were all already higher ranks than me.

I started going to the gym and doing calisthenics after i recovered from my broken hands. Training and practicing alone either with friends or myself. I got Gold for my NAPHA and I started training  taekwondo almost a year later after boosting my self confidence ; thinking "hey ! It's okay to be left behind as long as you are proud and work hard enough." During that absence though , my kicks got stronger, my fitness got better and my overall mental strength improved. I was able to endure the harsh training that I thought was intense when i just joined Taekwondo. As only a YELLOW BELT , I won a few black belts in our friendly sparring.

Moral of the story is, even if you are left behind and others are succeeding , do not give up! Keep working hard. You might not realized that you are actually stronger than them when you leave them. When you get out of your comfort zone and doing something way more behind the scenes.

P.S : I have not attended training for about 6 months after i graduated from ITE. I have not been going to the gym or training my body. I am a fat man.

Video Review

- Tony Fadell : The secret of a great design.

Take a step back. Look at things broader. Look at things closer. These are the words used by Tony Fadell in his talk at TED TALKS. Habituation was the key point of his talk where he talked about us , humans , adapting to the world and saying "that's how the world works" but in reality, if we could just take a step back, we could change how the world works. We could find problems and try to solve it. "Why can't cars fly?" The answer is not "that's how the world works" or "it is impossible to make cars fly" but hey ; what if it is not impossible? What if we could make a car fly? We could start from trying to get a remote car to hover? To float in mid-air? A youtuber ,Colin Furze , actually made a bike that can hover ! The bike are able to carry his own weight and levitate in mid air. That is the job of us designer! To create what has not been created. To make things impossible , possible . Be playful. Think young. Design.

- Isaac Mizrahi  : Fashion and Creativity.

My first impression on Isaac Mizrahi was that he was a creepy man. A loser of some sort. He stutters alot and look very unprofessional but actually , he's not. He's a creative designer. Someone with alot of passion, interest in fashion. To him, it's okay to make mistakes and that's true! We learn from mistakes and sometimes , mistakes can be very useful. Like sewing wrongly and making holes in your pants and suddenly, you felt that it looks good. You just created a new style of fashion. To Isaac Mizrahi, he believes that inspiration comes to yourself, you don't find inspiration. Everything must be fun to him and not be boring.

To me , I will go Tony Fadell. He is more of a realist person but also a designer which try to make things unreal , real. He try to solve problems and are curious like me. Curiousity. As a designer , we should be solving problems and try to take a step back to solve the problems. Not just waiting for things to come your way.

 PRESENTATION REVIEW

I believe the best presentation group goes to these 2 people!
Their works are very well organised and also very comical. They have many different catogaries where they categorised different kind of methods to their work. The illustrations are very cute and colourful and it just looks pleasing to the eyes. They present their work professionally and added comedy to make it fun and less mundane. Their voices are very strong and clear. The reason why i chose them as the best group is that , with just 2 people in their group, they are able to achieve many things and also present very well to the class. Kudos to them !

This group are not entirely horrible. They are pretty good with their works to be honest but their presentation are somewhere lacking. Other than Maya, the others voices are very soft and unclear. They look really nervous and Lily didn't contribute to the team. She just stood there without any sound. She look very clueless and i think she brought the whole team down. As a team, we should all work together. The strength of the team is as strong as the weakest player. Majority of the groupmates could be soaring high but when a single team member decides not to follow, he/she alone could prevent the whole team from soaring high. It's like when in a band, the whole band is playing very melodiously , making the audience very into the music but when a single clarinet played a loud and wrong tune, it changes the audience feels instantly. I hope Lilly could contribute more and start learning English as this is Singapore and we should all be able to speak at least basic English.

So this is me and my group's work. My group which consists of Thoi, Jaden and Roshni all contributes into this piece. I wasn't able to make it for the 1st of their projects where they paint the whole mahjong paper. It's saddening as I wasn't able to witness how my group mates has done it. The only thing I could ever do then was just contribute to more ideas and help them change a few things here and there giving my perspective and views on how to make it better. I believe my groups did an amazing job into this piece and their presentation wasn't bad either. Roshni has an amazing voice! Thoi is slightly soft and Jaden is abit shy. Nonetheless, our group did our best and I'm proud of them!

 My Point of View

My room is a small room part of a 4-room HDB where all my things are very disorganised. There are too many things in my room from a gaming PC to a piano. From this point of view , you can see my YAMAHA piano that was used to play and learn different kind of music to a furniture to put and store all my art materials and laptops. Ever since I started school , my room is filled with sketchbooks , A3 size drawing blocks , 3D sculptures and many more. To me , creativity is something that we create from nothing to be works of art. In my room, i could create tons of creative things from starting on my sketchbook ,painting on photoshop or i could just pick up my guitar , strum a few chords and hit some notes on my piano to just create new and interesting tunes. We are not limited in creativity. I could just paint on my walls if i don't have any thing that could be drawn on

I'm a geek for bikes and will probably live my life on the road ; or on the track after i get my Class 2 motorcycle license and getting my dream bike , which is the BMW S1000RR or the BMW HP4. I could go on about bikes for hours !

Making Coffee in Starbucks                                     (Week 3)

I work part-time in Starbucks as a part time barista to not only earn extra pocket money but also explore different kind of boundaries and interact with different people; getting to know more individual, and be a more social person in general. In Starbucks , I learnt that everyone is unique ; each with different kind of taste from getting a customisation of like 10 pumps of vanilla syrup to suit their taste or just getting an extra shot just because.

I'm also starting to learn how to do Latte Art where we use the foam from the milk the we steamed up to make Hearts , Rosetta and many more kind of cool arts. Making Latte Art is not easy and taught me that we have to patient and persistent in doing anything. It might just seem like pouring milk but in reality , we have to properly steam the milk and get a good consistency of the foam which takes time and practice to get the proper foam. It's fun to explore new things.

5 Products That Break The Rules

Name of the Product : Sneaker Heels by Yohji Yamamoto (Shahnabil)
Year of the Product : 2014
Designer of the Product : Yohji Yamamoto
Function of the product : It has a comfort of an everyday sneakers but looks very fashionable and are able to be worn in formal occasion as well! It looks amazing in my opinion. I would love to own one of these even if I am not a female. It just looks visually stunning! It looks really comfortable as well and i would wear if I could!

Name of the product : Transparent Toaster (Roshni)
Designer : Company Magimix
Year : 2010
Function : It is basically a transparent toaster where you could see the bread being toasted ! It looks very futuristic to me and i would buy and have it home if i could. In my opinion , it could be used as a furniture just by itself as it look super awesome!

Name of the Product : The rocking wheel chair
Designer : Mathias Koehler
Year : 2007
Function : It's a futuristic and very comfortable looking rocking chair. I think it breaks the rules of design by changing a regular rocking chair that looks very old into a singular piece of chair without any visible bolts.

Name of the Product : The USB fan ( Thoi )
Designer : Ajay V. Bhatt
Year : Unconfirmed
Function : It's a portable travel size mini fan that is powered by usb power bank. I believe its a creative design where the designer broke the rules by making a portable fan. Fans are believe to be big and unhandy but the designer broke the rules and made a fan that is small , compact and portable.

Name of the Product : Kathedra ( Jaden )
Designer : Desnahemisfera design studio
Year : 2014
Function : It's a cool looking desk that you are also able to charge your phone just by putting it on the desk. It looks futuristic and does not look like it will take much space. I believe it breaks the rules as people nowadays live with their mobile phones and always carry it around with them even when working. I guess this table solved the problem of having low battery whenever they are working if they did not bring a charger.

5 Videos Review

Creativity. What is creativity ? Creativity is the use of imagination or original ideas to create something. Creativity is your imagination, innovation , individuality and many more that you can think of.

Our human brains are easily tricked like when we see an object that is 2D but our brain thought that its 3D shown on ASAP SCIENCE , one of the youtube channels whose video we had to watch. Our brain are very easily tricked thus we could use this to our advantage in designing things and using our creativity to tricked the human brains thus creating ART.

Apple is a company of of inventors, innovators and world influencer. They see things differently , not fond of rules and has no respect for the status quo. They are one of the people that changes the world, pushing the human race forward into the future. They are a designer.

To be a successful artist , lots and lots of efforts are required. Julie Burstein made me realised that we should not just stick to one major that we learnt or are learning in school. We should expose ourself to different kind of medians and different style of arts. We should play around with what we are doing and explore different kind of things we could do and not letting anything stop us from doing what we love.

Our thoughts and feelings should me written down to make a good and true reflective writing . We should do reflective writing as it helps us to look back, analyse and project into the future. From one of the video , i learnt reflective writing is a way to solve problems with experience and learn from our past mistakes so that we do not make the same mistakes again. It is okay to make mistakes as long as we take it as a lesson to the better things in life.
